Overview
Novogradac & Company LLP is a national certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in San Francisco. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our fast‑growing audit and tax teams. The role involves completing tax and audit engagements under close supervision and may include remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Position Summary The Staff Accountant will:
Complete tax and/or audit engagements for designated clients as directed by a Supervisor or Manager.
Identify and communicate potential problem areas during engagements.
Conduct business‑specific research, gather and analyze data, and prepare reports and recommendations for principals and partners.
Develop effective client relationships through professionalism and follow‑through.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Up to 1 year of experience in public accounting, or 1–3 years in an internal accounting role, or an appropriate mix of education and work experience.
Ability to sit for the CPA exam or have passed CPA exam sections (a plus).
Basic understanding of accounting and tax rules.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through with accurate, time‑efficient work.
Capacity to work under close supervision, accept constructive feedback, and adapt to direction.
Ability to collaborate and foster a productive, team‑oriented environment with both colleagues and clients.
Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and report‑writing tools.
Professional demeanor with coworkers and clients.
Adherence to firm deadlines (time entry).
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required and to travel domestically.
