Senior PACS Administrator
Lead and optimize Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS/CPACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Cardiology Information Systems (CVIS), and ancillary imaging workflows. Provide technical leadership, mentor the team, and advise clinical and IT leadership.
Responsibilities
Application Expertise
Serve as subject matter expert for PACS/CPACS, RIS, CVIS.
Resolve complex imaging issues, including DICOM routing, HL7 integration, modality worklists, and data integrity.
Oversee configuration, maintenance, testing, and support of imaging applications.
Plan disaster recovery, backups, and storage lifecycle.
Participate in equipment installations and integrations.
Develop reports, monitor licensing, and budget recommendations.
Maintain system documentation.
Team Coordination & Workflow Leadership
Assign tasks, monitor progress, manage escalations.
Coach, mentor, and onboard team members.
Coordinate deliverables for changes, enhancements, or upgrades.
Provide workflow improvement recommendations.
Clarify that there is no formal HR supervision.
Project Management
Lead imaging-related projects such as upgrades, rollouts, and redesigns.
Create project plans, timelines, risk assessments.
Coordinate cross‑functional activities.
Track status and communicate updates to leadership.
Ensure testing, documentation, and training completed.
Operational Support & Quality
Monitor daily image routing, archiving, and performance.
Escalate clinical incidents and make decisions.
Administer user accounts, access controls, and security.
Ensure audit readiness and documentation for compliance.
Participate in on‑call rotation.
Customer Service & Communication
Liaise with clinical users, imaging staff, IT, and vendors.
Provide training, education, and documentation during upgrades.
Maintain timely communication with stakeholders.
Promote collaboration for patient‑centered services.
Other Functions
Participate in on‑call rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel Travel expected 0% – 50% of the time.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and minimum 5 years healthcare IS experience focusing on imaging systems.
OR 7 years radiology or cardiology imaging system experience with enrolled bachelor’s program, completion expected within 36 months of hire.
CIIP or CPAS certification required.
Must maintain CIIP or CPSA certification.
