As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing. You’ll be joining a team of highly productive engineers who run and support the GPU Bare Metal service across multiple regions. This role reports directly to the Sr Manager of GPU Compute within the IaaS organization.

What You’ll Do

Contribute to rapidly growing GPU infrastructure service products within DO by providing security and operational best practices to infrastructure servers across multiple regions.

Help design and implement self‑service capabilities for our customers by providing reliable and predictable API capabilities for upstack service teams.

Contribute code on automation projects specifically for improving lifecycle management.

Work with peers to develop and maintain a known compatibility matrix.

Ensure sales engineering teams are successful with proof‑of‑concept designs.

Provide technical leadership on projects and maintain a backlog of continuous improvements.

Engage in support escalations when necessary.

Capture trends and lead internal projects to improve the overall product experience.

What You'll Add to DigitalOcean

Proven ability to orchestrate bare metal Linux systems at scale including building automation for firmware updates, BIOS config management, and configuring PXE environments.

Deep Linux systems experience with low‑level troubleshooting, configuration management, security best practices, monitoring, and alerting.

Strong automation mindset.

Expert knowledge in at least one orchestration tool such as MaaS, Salt, Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.

Strong communication skills; you’ll write detailed documentation and lead knowledge‑sharing sessions with operations teams.

Bonus: Hands‑on experience in HPC clustered environments from Nvidia or AMD, automated wide‑scale testing on NCCL or other frameworks, and network engineering experience with VyOS platforms.
