The Manager, Contract Negotiations, is primarily responsible for managing complex lead negotiations for large and/or complex client contracts across various Fresenius Kabi markets, including Payor, Specialty Pharmacy, GPO, IDN, Hospital, and Clinic contracts. This new role will support the growth initiative in Biosimilars and specialty products. The position is heavily reliant on interacting with multiple Fresenius Kabi US business functions and will collaborate with National Account Managers, Field Sales, and Marketing teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
This role may be worked remote.
Base pay range: $110,000 - $125,000 per year.
Additional compensation: Annual Bonus.
Responsibilities
Draft, develop, prepare, and review contract documents in accordance with established company policies and procedures designed to minimize potential exposure while maximizing benefits.
Directly interface with key Payors, GPO, IDN, Clinics, and Sales Leaders to effectively develop and manage the contract negotiation process by influencing contract terms and providing sound guidance.
Manage the contracting process from beginning to end, including Requests for Proposal (“RFP”), business drivers, and overall contract negotiation process.
Provide strong business logic and detailed negotiation skills to help cross‑functional teams (Legal/Pricing/Sales/Marketing) support the contract and price strategy, moving requests from opportunity discovery into the contract phase.
Effectively negotiate and red line all key terms of a variety of pharmaceutical contract documents, including providing alternative language options with appropriate risk levels.
Analyze all contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with applicable laws and corporate policies.
Apply knowledge of the administration and governance of pricing relationships, membership rosters, and contract eligibility processes.
Effectively communicate the importance and intent of all required terms and conditions to both internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to lead development of RFP requests by providing necessary contractual documentation for bid submission.
Lead contract discussions during RFP and RFI negotiations and ensure problematic provisions are reviewed by responsible stakeholders.
Manage deadlines and follow‑up with all key stakeholders regarding status of project bids and agreements to ensure timely and accurate execution.
Accurately and comprehensively identify contractual risks for escalation to senior leadership and management on contractual issues.
Lead discussions and revisions to contract language reflecting new requirements, finalizing new contract template documents through appropriate internal subject matter experts.
Act as a subject matter expert presenting to senior leadership on complex deal concepts and non‑standard provisions requiring executive approval.
Work independently or as part of a team to identify and analyze unique contractual relationships and craft business terms best suited to Fresenius Kabi’s needs.
May require administration of customer pricing and maintenance of master customer data in enterprise systems.
Identify and lead cross‑functional process improvement opportunities with stakeholders.
Proactively track, govern, and lead expiring contracts or extension activities.
Participate in any and all reasonable work activities as assigned by management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degrees, paralegal, or certifications are a plus.
Minimum of 5+ years of related experience in customer contracting, sales/marketing, pricing, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating skills.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, hospital/pharmacy products, and/or medical device contractual terms and conditions is strongly preferred.
Biosimilars / Biologic experience highly preferred.
Demonstrated business acumen and experience negotiating and red‑lining customer agreements (preferably GPO, IDN, hospital and/or clinic contracting).
Knowledge of and comfort working with various contract types.
Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, problem resolution, and interpersonal skills.
Superior interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage cross‑functional teams.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including superior analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Experience or knowledge with SAP, BEX, Qlik, Veeva, Spring CM, Model N, and/or contract management tools.
Able to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects with demonstrated time management skills.
Ability to work effectively with all employees and external business contacts while demonstrating a positive, service‑oriented attitude.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound business judgment.
Commitment to compliance with company programs related to Health, Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality Management System.
Benefits Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000 per year.
Position is eligible to participate in a bonus plan with a target of 10% of the base salary. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including experience level, education, skills, and abilities.
