Position Summary
Southland Industries is currently seeking a Proposal Specialist to join our team. If you are creative, a self-starter, and love putting together proposals that will help move our business forward, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
Develop pre‑qualification and bid proposal package preparation and submissions as requested.
Establish and maintain file structures for project specific Request for Qualification (RFQ) and Bid Proposals.
Manage client‑generated RFQ and documents, Southland‑developed response, and final submission documentation within file structure.
Prepare bid proposals including scope, resumes, project lists, organization charts, and any collateral/support documentation.
Assist with developing deliverable list, timeline for document preparation, submission requirements and responsibilities, and final package submission.
Partner with internal clients and team members to develop PowerPoint presentation design and content.
Partner with Marketing to develop and implement tools and procedures to ensure future project documentation is published and maintained according to Southland standards.
Compile and coordinate with Marketing team to maintain project data for press releases, project profiles, and case studies for print and website use. Coordinate media opportunities and trade show scheduling with Marketing.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in English, Marketing or Communications required or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in writing, editing and researching to prepare, print and submit online technical documentation, including preparation of proposals.
Project Management experience preferred.
Adobe Creative Suite experience strongly preferred.
Unanet or Asana experience is a plus.
Experience in Service or Construction industry preferred.
Good project management skills with ability to meet assigned deadlines.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to write, edit and proofread content.
Strong multi‑tasking and prioritization skills.
Competent in MS Office, MS Visio.

Pay Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California, this ranges from $68,000.00-$82,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
Contingent Employment All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential job duty will be required to have a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). We are not able to offer sponsorship of employment at this time.
