ROOFER, Facilities Management & Planning, Maintenance Services Inside Higher Ed is seeking an experienced Roofer to manage facility maintenance and roof projects across the Charles River Campus.

Job Description

Apply new and repair existing built‑up roofs and single‑ply roofing systems.

Install protective roof coverings and cover roofs and exterior walls with materials such as sheet metal, composition shingles, asphalt and gravel, and related components.

Cut roofing material to size using a knife and fasten composition shingles or sheets with appropriate adhesive or nails.

Perform preventive roof maintenance by painting, sheathing, cleaning, scraping, and caulking.

Perform minor carpentry repairs to roof decks and structures.

Investigate causes of leaks and sources of water infiltration; inspect problem roofs and execute repairs on built‑up roofs, single‑ply systems, and flashings.

Repair masonry brickwork, parapet walls, gutter lines, chimneys, and window caulking.

Clean debris, snow, and keep gutters, roofs, and downspouts clear.

Maintain equipment, storage spaces, and secure the work area to ensure safety.

Set up ladders, scaffolding, and hoists as needed for roof access.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

5‑7 years of current commercial roofing experience.

OSHA‑10 Certified.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Demonstrated mathematical ability.

Proficient in reading and interpreting English, diagrams, blueprints, and shop drawings.

Able to lift 50 pounds and work from ladders and aerial lifts with no height limits.

Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable automobile.

Preferred Requirements

Completion of an apprenticeship program.

Certified Manufacturer Roofing System Installer.
