is seeking a DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer for the Data-Driven Debrief (D3) team at Nellis AFB, NV. The candidate will work in a multitasking, fast-paced environment supporting USAF Warfare Center Large Force Exercises, Operational Test and Tactics Development. Primary duties include supporting debrief, planning and execution of Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff (CJCS), Combatant Command (COCOM), and Major Command (MAJCOM)-level exercises and events. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure across cloud services and on-premise environments. The role includes determining technical requirements, supporting purchasing and implementation, and staying current with tools, techniques, and emerging capabilities including AI/ML. Additionally, the candidate will support the planning, coordination, and execution of exercises, demonstrations, and experiments, either remotely or in-person at CONUS or OCONUS locations.
Responsibilities
Capture and refine business and technical requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support D3 tools and exercises.
Provide technical support for exercise planning, execution, and post-event analysis.
Implement DevSecOps practices, automate security workflows, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless integration and delivery.
Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud solutions while optimizing resource utilization and ensuring security and compliance.
Maintain and troubleshoot IT environments, manage user access controls, and perform system updates, backups, and security checks.
Monitor system and network performance, resolve technical issues, and ensure reliable communication between systems.
Configure virtualized environments, streamline resource allocation, and enhance system flexibility and scalability.
Develop, deploy, and manage containerized applications, ensuring portability, consistency, and robust orchestration.
Optimize database performance, manage backups and recovery, and ensure high availability and scalability during operations.
Automate resource provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
Required Skills
At least 8 years of professional experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) roles is highly desired.
Experience scripting, implementing or improving automation, monitoring, and incident workflows.
Proficiency with cloud infrastructure services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Proficiency in system administration tools and platforms (e.g., Linux, Windows Server).
Proficiency with virtualization technologies and best practices (e.g., VMware, VDI).
Proficiency with containerization technologies and best practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Podman).
Proficiency in infrastructure automation (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible).
Proficiency with DevOps and CI/CD workflows and tools (e.g., GitLab, GitHub).
Experience with DevSecOps principles and tools, secure-by-default practices, and security compliance.
Strong analytic skills and ability to operate in a demanding environment while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to provide briefings to customers.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with ITIL practices for service management.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Kanban, Scrum).
Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure (e.g., GPU workloads, model deployment).
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or a related field.
Travel Requirements Travel is expected to support exercise events. Anticipate one trip per quarter. Non-traditional work hours may be required for exercise execution events. Work is on-site; occasional telework options may be available with approval from the mission partner.
Clearance Requirements Current Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain access to Special Access Required (SAR) Programs and Special Technical Operations (STO) required. U.S. Citizenship is required.
