Position Senior Robotics Engineer

Location USA, Louisville, KY

How You'll Create Possibilities

Lead the design, integration, and implementation of cutting‑edge robotic and automation systems across manufacturing and warehouse operations.

Drive cost‑out and productivity initiatives through New Product Introduction (NPI) and Run the Plant (RTP) projects.

Serve as the key liaison between engineering, operations, and plant leadership—ensuring business priorities are aligned with automation strategies.

Develop and enforce robotic, electrical, controls, and safety standards that ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance with national codes.

Mentor and guide junior engineers and cross‑functional teams on robotics, controls, and safety design best practices.

Identify and evaluate new technologies in robotics, machine vision, and emulation that can advance our manufacturing capabilities.

Lead capital projects from start to finish—including specification, supplier management, installation, validation, and handoff to operations.

Partner with design teams to apply Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Automation (DFA) principles to new products.

Support EHS and ergonomic compliance, ensuring all automation solutions prioritize operator safety and system reliability.

Provide troubleshooting, training, and ongoing technical support for robotic systems and automation equipment.

Requirements

5+ years hands‑on & relevant robotic and controls engineering experience with electrical/mechanical, automated manufacturing equipment and processes.

Technical Engineering Degree OR equivalent experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of FANUC/ABB robots electrical/mechanical and programming, ROBOGUIDE/ROBOTSTUDIO, 2D/3D vision guidance integrations, and working experience with DCS/SafeMove.

Working knowledge of Studio 5000 Logix and robotic interfaces to PLC.

Experience implementing robot automation and electromechanical equipment procurement projects, including specification development, supplier selection, technical reviews, installation, and qualification of equipment.

Excellent project tracking and detailed planning skills.

Ability to work in large cross‑functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members).

Good oral and written communication skills — will be expected to provide status report outs to cross‑functional team and train other engineers to electrical standards.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross‑functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company.

Travel may be required based on project/program schedule.

Computer Literacy Skills

Familiar with at least one CAD package, preferably SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo.

Comfortable with hands‑on assembling mechanical components and electronics, soldering boards, wiring connectors.

Hands‑on experience with sensing technologies (sensors, camera 2D, 3D, IMU, encoder).

Ability to create full simulations within RoboGuide / RobotStudio on a theoretical level to further project development.

Vision Knowledge

Strong knowledge in machine vision applications and use of vision systems within robotic applications.

Industry Traditional: FANUC iR, Cognex, Keyence.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in engineering. Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.

Working knowledge of controls software, STUDIO 5000/RSLOGIX, PROFICY and SIMATIC or SIMOTION preferred, along with experience integrating Industrial Safety and Security.

Experience designing robot tooling & fixturing.

Very creative talent with a proven ability to look past what is currently done and develop a practical, implementable vision for future electronic control systems with a strong history of executing to vision.

Prior NPI program experience.

Six Sigma Certification Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.

Additional Programming

Experienced with coding Python, C#, VB.

Algorithm prototyping and coding skills working knowledge (Python/C/C++/C# or VB.Net).

Experience within Emulate3D, formatted with full equipment virtual functionality, including physics.

Working Environment

Travel: 20‑30% travel may be for domestic and/or international travel to supplier sites/ plants, etc.

Work in office and manufacturing plant environments.
