The
Senior Manager, Procurement PV & BESS
implements procurement category and contracts strategies for Solar & BESS Capital Equipment in support of RWE Clean Energy’s business. The role focuses on developing and executing procurement strategies for photovoltaic modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems, and related support equipment for new build projects.
Role Responsibilities
Lead Solar & Energy Storage Category and Contract Management, focusing on PV modules and inverters; manage equipment contract execution and maintain market insight.
Build and maintain supplier relationships; coordinate purchase order call-offs under MSAs or independent contracts.
Execute procurement strategy for tendering, evaluating, and contracting Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage equipment.
Oversee procurement deliverables for multiple simultaneous projects, aligning with portfolio timelines, budgets, and risk tolerances.
Serve as key interface with internal stakeholders (Project Execution, Credit, Legal, AP, Logistics, Structured Finance, etc.).
Drive cost savings through project procurement solutions and negotiation.
Collaborate with Project Execution, Credit, and Legal teams to ensure procurement aligns with schedules and budgets.
Resolve escalated supplier disputes or complex contract issues, guiding the team in resolution strategies while maintaining supplier relationships.
Develop and maintain contacts with major equipment manufacturers and suppliers in the renewable energy industry.
Ensure policy, compliance rules, and processes are properly implemented and observed.
Coordinate needs of Development, Project Execution, and Energy Marketing teams to successfully construct solar farms and energy storage projects in North America.
Adapt quickly to changing market conditions and respond to shifts in the build program.
Job Requirements and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree minimum (Engineering or Business background).
Minimum 8 years procurement experience, with at least 5 years in renewable energy, focusing on solar PV and energy storage.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes and negotiation of large power generation equipment contracts; logistics experience is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer relationships.
Proactive problem solving, risk mitigation, and self‑starter mindset.
Excellent Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams proficiency.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and deadline management.
Multi‑tasking ability, independent and team orientation.
Motivated, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving communication with diverse backgrounds.
Detail‑oriented with strong business acumen and understanding of business concepts.
Office‑based with occasional travel to RWECE offices and field locations; must sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods.
Pay Range The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $126,000 – $175,000.
