The Role
Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. May be responsible for development of e-learning programs. Will design and develop courses to instruct apprentices and all levels of personnel. Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience Note:
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience Nice to Have
Craft Instructor experience with an electrical trade background, knowledge of The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) registered apprenticeship requirements. Knowledge of the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) requirements. Experience with college accreditation and familiarity with instructional and course management technology. Leadership, managerial, analytical and administrative skills/abilities are a plus, along with well-developed writing and communication skills and a working knowledge of The Apprentice School at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding.
