STR
Overview
STR’s Intelligence division researches and develops advanced analytics and machine learning-based solutions to solve challenging problems related to national security. Our team consists of engineers with advanced degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, and data science, who use deep technical knowledge and creativity to tackle some of the hardest problems our customers face. Our projects span multiple data modalities and incorporate advanced algorithms, deep learning, and statistical techniques to uncover patterns in social media, structured and unstructured text, time series, geospatial, and imagery data, operating under challenging constraints not typically found in the commercial world. The tools and technologies we develop have real world impact and US Government analysts use them to extract and enrich intelligence information around the globe. The Role
The Role
As a Data Software Engineer, you will leverage your skills in data science, machine learning, and software development to operationalize advanced statistical machine learning algorithms and support production-level systems. You will closely work with other software engineers and researchers to design cutting-edge solutions to challenging problems impacting national security including classification, anomaly detection, forecasting, and much more. This role combines proficiency in programming languages such as Python and developing advanced machine learning solutions against disparate data feeds to craft cutting-edge solutions that address real-world challenges in national security. Positions are available in both Woburn, MA and Arlington, VA. Due to the nature of our work, applicants should expect to primarily work onsite or in the office. What you will do
Explore a variety of data sources to build and integrate machine learning models into software Develop machine learning and deep learning algorithms for large-scale multi-modal problems Work with large data sets and develop software solutions for scalable analysis Collaborate to create and maintain software for data pipelines, algorithms, storage, and access Monitor software deployments, create logging frameworks, and design APIs Build analytic tools that utilize data pipelines to provide actionable insights into customer requests Develop and execute plans to improve software robustness and ensure system performance Who you are
Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance, for which U.S citizenship is needed by the U.S government Motivated collaborator looking to work with a large and distributed team 5+ years of experience in one or more high level programming languages, like Python Experience working with large datasets for machine learning applications Experience in navigating and contributing to complex, large code bases Experience with containerization practices and CI/CD workflows BS, MS, or PhD in a related field or equivalent experience Even Better
Experience with probabilistic and statistical methods Experience with mathematical concepts such as linear algebra and optimization Experience with container orchestration systems, such as Kubernetes Experience using databases including SQL and NoSQL databases Experience developing parallel processing and distributed software workflows Experience with dashboard frontends, such as Grafana or Kibana Location and additional notes
