Welding Process Engineer
– Actalent
This role is a Special Process Engineer for an Aerospace and Defense client in Atlanta, GA. The primary focus is to transition battery production from an up‑start phase to scaled manufacturing. The engineer will apply industry best practices and quality controls to enhance the battery manufacturing process and support rapid production capability.
Responsibilities
Develop and optimize Micro‑TIG and laser welding processes.
Build custom battery packs from supplied cells.
Lead automated welding process development.
Manage projects independently from start to finish.
Create technical documentation, including process specifications and SOPs.
Conduct equipment and process inspections.
Set up, execute, and analyze experiments to improve production standards.
Essential Skills
8+ years of experience in a high‑volume weld process development environment.
Expertise in Micro‑TIG and laser welding processes.
Experience building battery packs.
Strong project management skills.
Proficiency in writing technical documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Welding Engineering.
Certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
Experience in the battery industry.
Familiarity with fully automated welding lines.
Work Environment Onsite in Atlanta, GA
Pay and Benefits Salary range: $125,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year.
