Overview The Senior Financial Analyst assumes responsibility for providing analytical and planning support to the Finance Division and adds value to the credit union by providing accurate analysis and reporting related to the finance functions.
What You Will Do
Assumes responsibility for Asset‑Liability Management System (PRM), Data Management System (DMS), Funds Transfer Pricing System (FTP), and Branch Profitability software (IMB Cognos Impromptu).
Gathers data from all internal and external sources, validates, balances and uploads into DMS and FTP systems, processes the data into periodic cash flows and feeds into the PRM system; reviews/modifies PRM, DMS, FTP, and IBM Cognos Impromptu parameters as needed.
Gathers and determines market/prepayment data and assumptions for input into the A/L model.
Runs model scenarios and generates reports for review/analysis by the VP, Finance and/or CFO. Builds and processes the monthly FTP database and generates results for input into IBM Cognos Impromptu or other profitability projects for management purposes.
Interprets results and/or makes recommendations to management regarding the results of model run and how to continuously improve efficacy and soundness of the systems.
Assumes responsibility for PRM Validation and ALM assumptions. Works with third party service providers as needed regarding model validation, prepayment assumptions, and non‑maturity deposit studies.
Performs interest rate risk modeling, funds transfer price modeling, liquidity analyses, what‑if analyses, and prepares related reports.
Supports the VP, Finance in maintaining and establishing Organizational Profitability software and studies.
Supports the VP, Finance in maintaining the credit union’s hedging and derivatives program. Supports the derivatives program by processing and posting related accounting entries for the credit union’s hedging and derivatives program and maintaining related software.
Contributes to highly complex aspects of projects in terms of analyzing and updating key assumptions for financial modeling software.
Ensures accurate reporting for portions of monthly and quarterly financial state and call reports, and collaborates directly with other departments to perform research and analysis to complete projects.
Assists in the development of annual budget/forecasts and monitoring of budget/forecast progress by reporting variances from the established budget.
Uses A/L software to forecast interest margins under different scenarios to test/validate annual balance sheet and income forecasts for the credit union’s Business Plans.
Prepares regular monthly and other reports on request for the President/CEO, other members of management, auditors, and regulatory examiners.
Prepares weekly cash flow projections, share & loan reports, deposit analysis, loan analysis, and other operating income reports for Product & Pricing Committee.
Prepares and files weekly FR2900 reports.
Regulatory and Management Reports – Prepares a portion of the Call Report by performing quarterly calculation of insured and uninsured shares, weighted yields and costs of loans and shares, and other schedules as needed with accuracy and timeliness.
Annual forecasts and operating budgets – Supports the VP, Finance in annual budget preparation/consolidation process, integrates budget data in the Prologue GL system, and prepares monthly expense budget variance reports for management comments or explanation.
Monthly Closing Package and Board Reports – Responsible for portions of end of month closing process in the Prologue GL system and prepares the monthly closing package for management review. Prepares a portion of the monthly financials for the Board Report.
Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of financial analysis and reporting.

Provides support to ALCO Committee, Board Finance Committee, Product & Pricing Committee, the Accounting Department, and other departments as needed.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Premier America staff, ALCO Committee, and Board Finance Committee. Prepares meeting packets for ALCO Committee and Board Finance Committee.
Provides support to the Accounting Department and the Manager, Financial Analysis by assuming responsibility for the processing of investment transactions in the Prologue Investment Accounting system, manual processing of certain investment payments, preparing monthly reconcilement of assigned GL accounts as needed, and maintenance of Prologue financial report templates.
Maintains written procedures for the complete A/L modeling function from data gathering to outputs and reporting of results.
Stays informed of trends and changes in the financial field and attends seminars and professional conferences as necessary.
Provides support to the Accounting Department and the Manager, Financial Analysis by assuming responsibility for the processing of investment transactions in the Prologue Investment Accounting system, manual processing of certain investment payments, preparing monthly reconcilement of assigned GL accounts as needed, and maintenance of Prologue financial report templates.
Requirements What We Are Looking For:
5+ years of experience with various financial instruments required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General understanding of interest rate risk and liquidity risk and approaches to quantifying and modeling these risks required, including knowledge of financial market instruments and regulatory requirements for banks.
Experience with quantitative models used for risk management, including ALM and liquidity risk management preferred. Familiarity with SQL, SSRS and database applications required.
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
Knowledge of accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America, basic characteristics of financial assets and liabilities, and basic statistical analysis.
Ability to work standard personal computers (including peripheral equipment), ten‑key calculator, typing 30‑40 words per minute, view a computer terminal for varying periods of time, and to learn and retain the proper use of voice equipment, including facsimile machines and photocopies.
Must be able to work with various PC software.
Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals; strong project management skills desired.
