R&D Chemical Scientist role at Idaho National Laboratory. Join the Radiochemical Separations & Radiation Science team to advance research in actinide separations, radiation effects on chemistry, materials, and systems, with a focus on nuclear medicine and innovative solutions. Responsibilities

Conduct research in areas of specialization. Work with chemicals in a safe manner, following work control processes. Plan and execute programmatic research. Collaborate with other scientists and chemists in the development of experimental designs and execution of experiments. Establish and develop new methods and instrumentation that advance science in area(s) of specialty. Prepare research papers/reports and technical research proposals. Publish in both classified and unclassified peer-reviewed journals. Write and submit research proposals that solicit new research and development activities or provide critical services. Provide programmatic and technical leadership to various groups in area(s) of specialty. Assist management in identifying growth areas and developing department roadmaps that focus strategic investments in facilities, equipment, and human capital. Lead a dynamic team consisting of junior staff, postdoctoral researchers, and other technical staff. Serve as project lead and/or lead technical roles in multiple tasks or cross-cutting projects in support of INL, the Department of Energy (DOE), other government agencies, and industry. Research and development of innovative chemical and/or radiochemical separation techniques. Research and development of innovative physical separation techniques. Laboratory-scale process development. Analytical technique development. Report to the Department Manager as required. Minimum Requirements

Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field plus 9 years of experience. Master’s plus 6, PhD plus 4 in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills. Hands-on experience in one or more areas listed (solvent extraction, ion exchange, ligand synthesis and testing, radiochemistry). Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work independently. Strong organizational skills. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Preferred Experience

Analytical chemistry for detection of actinides and/or lanthanides. Track record of writing and winning research funding proposals. Experience working with radioactive materials. Job Information

The pay range for this position is: $111,888.00 - $229,284.00. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials. This is a testing designated position; pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment may be required. Benefits and Relocation
