The University of Southern California (USC) is a world‑class research university located in downtown Los Angeles. The John C. Hench Division of Animation + Digital Arts of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts teaches animation from a maker’s point of view with a focus on creation, design and innovation. As an adjunct faculty member, you will teach a general‑education animation history course covering the early era to the present digital evolution to undergraduate students, to be delivered in person on the USC campus in the Spring 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
Teach a general‑education animation history course from early era to present digital evolution.
Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and course materials.
Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development as required.
Qualifications
Significant professional experience at major animation studios; currently engaged in the entertainment industry with first‑hand knowledge of industry business practices and trends.
Deep understanding of the history of animation.
Minimum education: BA or BFA from an accredited university.
8 years of professional experience working in animated features and/or animated episodic series.
Preferred education: MFA from an accredited university.
Preferred experience: Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the college level, including professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.
Preferred: Prior teaching experience in a college setting.
Compensation The hourly range for this position is $38 – $43.75 per hour. This is a 25% FTE adjunct appointment.
