Base pay range $185,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr

Job Description The role is a senior water treatment leader with strong project management experience, strong process capabilities and understanding, and strong relationship building capability to support the Hazen’s West Regional Manager and local Operations Managers in developing water treatment business in Northern California and Oregon. The position can be based in any of the Northern California offices (San Francisco, Concord, or Sacramento), however, it will serve across the Region depending on the expertise and the needs on projects and pursuits.

Responsibilities

Assist the Operations Managers from the northern California and Oregon offices in strategic business planning and development of the annual office business plans for identifying strategies to grow the local market share and technical capabilities, identifying annual goals for improving the water treatment resume of the office, Region, and the firm.

Support the West Region and National Water Practice leadership in strategic business planning, strategic technology initiatives, identifying research and study areas, identifying strategies to grow the drinking water capabilities in the Offices and the Region.

Assist the Regional Manager and Operations Manager with identifying, pursuing, selling and delivering water treatment projects.

Develop technical treatment strategies, select treatment processes, develop process design criteria, and deliver projects.

Identify key opportunities and support and develop proposals.

Help the operations managers identify, hire, supervise and mentor junior water staff.

Holistic problem solving for clients considering their water supplies, water demands and uses, water production capabilities, business operations, regulatory constraints, and financial expectations.

Direct coordination and collaboration with clients.

Coordinate with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.

Manage projects to meet client expectations, budgets, and quality requirements.

Follow internal Hazen processes to ensure quality delivery of engineering projects for clients.

Take full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments on small to large projects.

Perform planning, studies, design, and support of projects through design, construction, and operation.

Assist with review and negotiation of contracts.

Mentor junior staff to ensure they meet their career goals and objectives.

Evaluate progress of the project staff and results obtained and recommend changes to achieve overall project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Must be a proven project manager with drinking water quality, process and project experience.

Experience working on all phases of water projects from concept development, project planning, applied research, study, advising through detailed design, construction, and operations.

Experience working in municipal water treatment, water quality, water treatment technology, or manufacturing.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential as this role involves a high degree of client engagement.

Must be able to present complex issues to nontechnical people.

Preferred Skills

Greater than 15 years of experience managing drinking water quality, process and treatment projects for clients is preferred.

Education/License Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in California (civil engineering preferred).

Preferred Credentials

A Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering is a plus.
