General Description Responsible for advising and overseeing the activities of the chess team. The team is open to any academically qualified student grades 9-12. The Chess Team holds frequent matches to prepare for state-wide tournaments throughout the school year.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate schedules for practices and tournaments.

Act as a substitute instructor as needed.

Direct and coordinate instructors at larger programs.

Play a pivotal role in ensuring program-wide and individual training standards are achieved.

Coordinate a system of regular communication with our instructors.

Keep a regular communication schedule with your coordinators.

Coordinate tournament application, fees, transportation, etc.

Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the rules and game of chess.

Excellent organizational ability.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Must have the ability and prove ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Employment Information

Personnel are recommended annually by the building principal and approved by the Superintendent.

Compensation will be determined by the School City of Hammond agreement.

Performance of the job will be evaluated annually.
