Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
This position involves managing the full lifecycle of custom fixture projects in a dynamic job shop environment. You will oversee projects from the initial customer quote to production, ensuring efficiency and precision throughout the process.
Responsibilities
Guide projects from initial customer quote through to production, including evaluating weld times, estimating initial costs, and analyzing customer drawings.
Create and revise fixture designs using SolidWorks.
Oversee the fixture department, including reviewing and updating drawings, participating in buy‑off processes, and ensuring smooth handoff to production.
Gather feedback to improve and standardize processes, contributing to lean initiatives, and driving efficiency across the department.
Supervise a small team of 2–3 individuals within the fixture department, providing direction and support.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, specifically in CNC laser, fixture design, and welding.
Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems.
Experience in metal fabrication and process improvement.
Project and people leadership skills.
BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Specific experience with laser and press brake.
Project management and continuous improvement experience.
Work Environment The company operates two facilities in Ohio totaling 240,000 square feet with an attached office. It is a custom metal fabricating company that serves commercial, defense, and aerospace industries, specializing in metal fabrication using advanced techniques like laser cutting, bending, welding, punching, and stamping. The company has over 50 years of experience in metal manufacturing and employs a team of 150, with 9 in engineering. The work involves a balance of 50% floor time and 50% design work, with projects averaging a quick turnaround time of 4–6 weeks.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Streetsboro, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $46.00 – $50.00 per hour.
