Federated Energy Services Cooperative Inc. (FESCO) is a shared services and management cooperative formed in 1998. FESCO provides services for Lorain‑Medina Rural Electric and North Central Electric, two electric distribution cooperatives in Ohio. North Central Electric serves around 9,600 members across multiple counties in north central Ohio, while Lorain‑Medina Rural Electric serves about 16,000 consumers in northeast Ohio. Both cooperatives maintain extensive networks of underground and overhead lines and have a long history of service, each being member‑owned and controlled.
Position Description Oversee the preparation of distribution line design for the construction of commercial and residential electric services.
Responsibilities
Ensure all projects are staked and scheduled. Develop a material list and provide estimates to members as requested.
Obtain permits and easements (contacting landowners and federal/state/county agencies).
Participate in safety meetings and training programs as required.
Maintain, correct, and update distribution system circuit diagram and consumer location maps as needed.
Maintain records necessary for work order accounting procedures and to support the formulation of work plans and reports.
Assist in emergency maintenance/storm response.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Professional Engineer and Manager of Engineering.
Education & Experience
A minimum 2‑year associate’s degree in engineering (or at least two years towards an engineering degree) is required; electrical is preferred. Candidates with 4+ years of lineman experience would be considered.
Must possess a desire to progress their engineering education to a bachelor’s degree level and obtain their Professional Engineering License.
Utilization of the cooperative’s education reimbursement program is highly encouraged.
Physical Demands
Must be able to walk over uneven, steep or difficult terrain for distances of over a mile on a regular, recurring basis. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Work is both in a controlled office environment and outdoors in all weather conditions.
