Position Description Edward Waters University, a proud NCAA Division II institution and member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), is seeking a dedicated and organized Athletic Academic Coordinator to enhance academic success, retention, and graduation outcomes of student-athletes. The individual will play a key role in maintaining NCAA eligibility, promoting student development, and collaborating with various campus departments. A critical component of this role includes working closely with the Deputy Athletic Director to ensure student-athletes' academic needs are proactively addressed and integrated into the overall support structure of the athletic department.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Sport Administration, or a related field.
Requirements
1–2 years of experience in academic advising or working with student‑athletes in a collegiate setting.
Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Ability to build relationships across departments and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive academic support for assigned student‑athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA Division II eligibility standards and institutional academic policies.
Monitor academic progress, class attendance, and progress toward degree requirements through frequent meetings and reporting.
Develop and implement academic‑success strategies for at‑risk student‑athletes, including study hall, tutoring, and academic workshops.
Work in close partnership with the Deputy Athletic Director to identify and respond to academic concerns, coordinate outreach, and support overall academic‑success initiatives across sports programs.
Serve as a liaison between Athletics and key university departments (Academic Affairs, Registrar, Faculty, and Student Support Services).
Assist with timely and accurate completion of academic progress reports, APC data collection, and NCAA compliance audits.
Coordinate midterm and end‑of‑term grade checks and communicate results to coaches and the Deputy Athletic Director.
Support the delivery of life‑skills programming, including time management, career readiness, and personal development.
Educate coaches and athletic staff on academic support resources and updates to NCAA academic legislation.
Promote a culture of academic accountability and excellence within the athletic department.
Location and Salary Jacksonville, FL | Salary: $48,700.00 – $73,500.00 (full‑time)
