10+ years of heavy civil/highway estimating experience
(underground utility experience preferred)
Proven success winning $50–$100M projects using bottom-up estimating strategies
Bachelor’s degree
in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent technical training/field experience)
Expertise with Bid2Win
and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with takeoff software (AgTEK, Bluebeam, Planswift) and scheduling tools (Primavera)
Familiarity with CMR, CMGC, and Design-Build delivery methods
Strong leadership and mentoring ability for developing junior estimators

About the Role As a Senior Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in developing accurate, competitive bids for high-profile heavy civil and highway projects. This position goes beyond crunching numbers—you’ll own the estimating process, lead strategy, and help shape projects that will serve communities for decades. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior estimators and contribute to the long-term growth of the preconstruction team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Estimating Efforts: Review specifications, drawings, and bid documents; develop comprehensive estimating plans.
Develop Detailed Estimates: Build complete bottom-up estimates including takeoffs, subcontractor strategies, and compliance with all requirements.
Ensure Accuracy: Maintain thorough documentation and organized records to support all assumptions and figures.
Leverage Data & Insights: Utilize historical cost reports and production data to refine unit costs and man-hour projections.
Present with Impact: Confidently present strategies and estimates to senior leadership, preparing materials and recommendations.
Stay Current: Maintain professional expertise through ongoing education, networking, and participation in industry associations.
Mentor & Guide: Provide training, support, and knowledge-sharing to junior estimators to strengthen team capabilities.
