Overview
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers community programs such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. The Kapi‘olani Pediatric Outpatient Clinic offers comprehensive pediatric services for children and teens from birth to 21 years of age. Our dedicated staff provides services such as physical check-ups; vaccinations and TB screening; treatment and management of childhood illnesses; coordinated management of special health problems and chronic illnesses; hearing/vision screening; WIC/Head Start check-ups and lab services and diagnostic and minor surgical procedures. Responsibilities
As the Medical Assistant, you will form part of the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide caring, thorough health services to our patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities to clients of all ages. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and attentive, with strong communications and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people. Medical Support Staff Minimum Qualifications
High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period. Preferred Experience
Six (6) months medical assistant experience OR completion of HPH Medical Assistant Program; knowledge of CPT and/or ICD-10 Coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
