Lab Technician I

Hourly Rate:
$22.50/Hour
Responsibilities
Provide technical applications support to internal and external customers in the Construction and Nonwovens industries.
Utilize technical knowledge and stay current with trends, developments, and innovations of products, test methods, and industry standards in the construction industry.
Drive customer-driven innovations and manage joint development projects.
Assist key stakeholders through solutions development, data generation, and evaluation of products versus competitive products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Technical Service, R&D, Sales, and Marketing.
Operate in compliance with EH&S and ISO quality standards and maintain laboratory equipment according to 5S policies.
Contribute knowledge of test methods and write respective SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and JSAs (Job Safety Analyses).
Support applications work in multiple segments and complete technical service projects for customers of varying complexity.
Coordinate lab work with other Chemists and collaborate with Technical Specialists under the direction of the Technical Team Leader.
Participate in solving challenging laboratory problems to support customers and market growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
with
0–4 years
of relevant lab or industrial experience
OR
High School Diploma with
4–8 years
of relevant lab work experience.
Fundamental understanding of dispersion and resin chemistry.
Strong laboratory skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience and knowledge in formulation and application testing of water-based binders and related technologies (desirable but not required).
Bonus: Relevant work experience in Building Envelope, Construction Adhesives, and/or Nonwovens industry.
Ability to solve problems, interpret results, offer ideas and solutions, and communicate next steps to key stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with or without supervision.
Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and presentation.
