Job Description Pathologists Assistant - Exempt – Oklahoma City, OK, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position is intended for individuals currently certified as a pathologist assistant. The individual will perform all routine functions in the surgical pathology area, including some escalated issues and troubleshooting quality issues. The individual will be responsible for conducting gross examinations of surgical pathology specimens under appropriate supervision.
Pay Range $84,250+ per year. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
Assist the department manager/supervisor with the day‑to‑day operations of the surgical pathology area to ensure accurate and efficient services.
Perform gross examination and dissection of large, complex/complicated specimens for histologic processing.
Provide technical instructions, training, and guidance to pathologist assistants, grossing technicians, and lab assistants.
Help orient, train, and verify competency of newly hired grossing staff.
Perform New Hire quality control for pathologist assistants, grossing technicians, and histotechs.
Administer competency assessment to grossing staff.
Provide input for employee performance reviews.
Assist in establishing supervision levels for each specimen type.
Prepare non‑gynecological specimens, cytopreparation, staining, coverslipping, including FNA specimens.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality control, quality assurance, CLIA, CAP, and corporate regulations.
Perform troubleshooting and exercise independent judgment when required.
Interact with pathologists regarding gross dissection/description for directly supervised specimens.
Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting, notifying supervisors when necessary.
Coordinate and monitor workflow; serve as key contact for problem areas.
Monitor HPAP as needed and participate in quality indicator monitoring.
Follow laboratory procedures for job responsibilities.
Comply with Quest Diagnostics corporate continuing education and state licensure requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Certified Pathologist Assistant (required).
Preferred: 1 year of surgical gross experience with large, complex/complicated specimens.
No additional required work experience beyond certification noted.
