Fairview Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is a Level II Trauma Center that specializes in general emergency/trauma, sepsis care and offers SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) services. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well‑Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.

Schedule & Responsibilities

A caregiver in this role works an evening/night rotation from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend requirements.

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Educate patients and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC – adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC – pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department

ACLS and PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department

One year of current acute care RN experience and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience or licensed military RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Critical care background

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium work: exerts 20‑50 pounds occasionally, or 10‑25 pounds frequently, or >10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Physical demands are in excess of those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
