Automobile Salesperson Summary

Sells/leases new- and used-vehicles at dealership gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction standards. Essential Duties

Satisfies the transportation needs of vehicle purchasers. Sells/leases and delivers a minimum of 10 units per month. Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot. Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Explains fully product performance, application, and benefits to prospects. Describes all optional equipment available for customer purchase. Offers test drives to all prospects and follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer prior to test drive. Utilizes dealership sales control and follow-up system. Exhibits high level of commitment to customer satisfaction. Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers. Knows and understands equity and values, and can explain depreciation to the customer. Ensures that the sales manager has an opportunity to meet each customer. Turns 100 percent of closed deals to the finance and insurance manager, with properly completed paperwork. Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with dealership policies. Prepares sold vehicles for customer delivery prior to arrival. Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring understanding of operating features, warranty, and paperwork. Introduces customers to service department personnel to emphasize quality and efficiency of service. Follows up on all post-delivery items and special requests to meet customer expectations. Maintains an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business. Maintains a prospect development system. Reviews and analyzes actions to improve time utilization and planning. Attends sales meetings and maintains professional appearance. Marginal Duties

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret safety rules and manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups. Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, understand rate, ratio, percent, and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out instructions and solve problems in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Manufacturer Training; Valid Driver's License. Physical Demands
