Fire Sprinkler Designer
$59,000 - $75,000 Salary A great opportunity for the right individual to join a well-established, industry-leading fire protection contracting company. The position will work on unique projects across various industries and sizes, from small retail spaces to large industrial power plants. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication skills. Job Overview
The Designer will be responsible for fire sprinkler layout and design work on multiple projects, ensuring compliance with all codes, insurance requirements, and scope of work. Responsibilities include completing permit drawings and hydraulic calculations, understanding system operations, and following blueprint instructions (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil). The role requires designing/drawing all jobs using CPVC and/or steel pipe with AutoSprink 3D (version 2016 or newer). Knowledge of ACAD & BIM is a plus. The Designer will submit materials to authorities timely and manage all project aspects, including design, procurement, fabrication scheduling, coordination, and site oversight. Safety is a priority at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review job documents to determine critical design dimensions. Coordinate with other trades for design modifications and update computer models accordingly. Calculate and convert design dimensions for production. Create graphical representations of designs for review and approval. Enter information into computer systems to generate approved designs. Perform field surveys, including physical measurements and climbing ladders or stairs. Oversee the direction, coordination, and evaluation of designed jobs. Problem-solve issues and make informed decisions. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Control project timelines, labor, and material costs. Manage contract paperwork such as insurance certificates and registrations. Procure materials and schedule fabrication/delivery. Handle contract payments. Coordinate with clients, trades, management, and field personnel. Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ensure accountability in decision-making. Qualifications
5+ years in the fire sprinkler industry; NICET Level I certification; Associate's degree or equivalent in Design & Drafting Technology is a plus. Experience managing projects and personnel. Knowledge of industry codes, OSHA standards, and labor-to-cost ratios. Ability to interpret safety rules, blueprints, and technical documents; effective communication skills. Proficiency in AutoSprink 3D, ACAD, BIM, and Microsoft Office Suite. Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, navigate ladders, stairs, and construction sites. Work Environment
The role involves both office work and site visits for measurements and oversight. Physical activities on construction sites are expected. Benefits
