Overview
Dentist position located at the Spokane County Jail in Spokane, WA. Partnering with Everhealth to hire a Dentist to join our team of medical professionals at the Spokane County Jail. Pay rates range from $112.50 to $118.75 per hour plus shift differentials where applicable. Pay rates are based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional Dentist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to incarcerated individuals in residence. This role encompasses preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment of oral diseases and injuries. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.
Responsibilities
Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients
Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations
Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices
Maintaining accurate and detailed patient dental records
Maintaining overall dental care responsibility for the management of dental services to each patient
Performing all dental assessments, radiographic exams, and dental treatment, including emergency treatment such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry, and periodontal therapy within the scope of general dentistry
Formulating a working diagnosis, developing and implementing a treatment plan, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes
Evaluating all patients returning from offsite dental visits
Participating in training and orientation of healthcare staff
Providing oral hygiene education and discharge instructions to all patients seen
Supervising and coaching dental assistants
Ensuring sterilization and disinfection of equipment
Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients\' oral health needs
Qualifications
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located
Must possess and be able to maintain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; AHA or American Red Cross, preferred
Current DEA registration
Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility\'s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
