Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Test Pilot to join our Test & Evaluation organization. This role is based in Melbourne, FL. and the candidate must be able to support 25% travel to other U.S. locations, including Palmdale CA and Edwards AFB, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Writer for development of operational documentation for the program
Engineering Liaison to brief asset hardware and software integration and updates to stakeholders
Conduct briefings and debriefings, coordinating with maintenance personnel to analyze and correct vehicle discrepancies
Conduct demonstration flights with customers, government officials, or other personnel to exhibit vehicle performance, flying qualities, and system capabilities as required
Travel to test or customer sites as required
Complete GV training and qualification as a basis for continued employment
Provide engineering test pilot expertise and safety guidance to flight test engineers for design definition, simulator flights, test planning, flight test techniques, test conduct, test reporting, and proposal preparation.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of related professional/military experience with a background in aerospace test activities, OR Master’s degree and 10 years of related experience with a background in aerospace test activities
Engineering Technical Liaison experience with developmental testing
Demonstrated success as a Technical Writer for development of operational documentation for the program
Ability to understand and brief asset hardware and software integration and changes to stakeholders
Experience as a flight test crew member
Commercial instrument rated pilot (FAA or military equivalent), with current FAA Class II Medical or better
Willingness to obtain and maintain the appropriate medical clearance(s) as defined by the customer’s contracting requirements for the duration of employment
Willingness to obtain and maintain all training qualifications, as needed per the customer’s contracting requirements for the duration of employment
Minimum of 1,500 hours of flight experience as Pilot in Command
Ability to obtain and maintain a Final adjudicated government Secret Clearance (or higher) and necessary program access within a reasonable period of time
Preferred Qualifications
Current or previous PIC or SIC type rating on Gulfstream V aircraft
Test Pilot School graduate
Military flight experience
Flight test experience
DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to brief engineering and software changes to test aircrew
Primary Level Salary Range: $178,600.00 - $268,000.00
Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
