The VP Quality and Risk Management is a key position responsible for leading, directing, and developing the quality assessment, performance improvement, and risk management programs, contributing to Telecare’s and those we serve’s success. The VP sets strategic development and implementation for quality and risk management and ensures the workforce is equipped to deliver on Telecare’s promise of excellence. Full Time | DAYS 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Monday - Friday Expected starting wage range is $203,934 - $251,978. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. The candidate will bring strong patient care administration knowledge, quality assessment and improvement, and risk management development and implementation, with accountability for results. POSITION SUMMARY The VP Quality and Risk Management oversees the development and implementation of the organization’s quality assessment, performance improvement, and risk management programs in alignment with regulatory requirements. They direct activities related to quality control, staffing, scheduling, quality assurance standards, planning, and policy development. This is the highest-level role in patient care and leads quality improvement, infection prevention, patient and associate safety, clinical risk management, regulatory and accrediting agency reporting, and continuous survey readiness. This role requires extensive coordination with senior leaders and program directors. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelors’ degree in a healthcare-related field Five (5) years' experience as a VP or Director of Quality and Safety at a large single-site acute care facility Two (2) years' experience as a VP of Quality and Safety of a region or multi-site health care facility Ten (10) years' experience in healthcare Certified in Risk Management (CPHRM) and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Advanced training and expertise in healthcare quality, safety, improvement methods, and reporting Demonstrates expert knowledge of improvement methods in clinical settings Significant health care management and operational knowledge/experience focused on improving quality and safety Experience with healthcare data issues, regulatory readiness, change management, and process improvement Current knowledge of regulations and standards related to JCAHO, CMS, CARF, and state regulations for varied levels of service Must be at least 18 years of age Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified on date of employment or prior to direct client care and maintain certification Post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD, background clearances, sanctions, and degree/license verification may be required; driving requirements as applicable Preferred: Masters’ degree in a healthcare-related field Licensed Registered Nurse in California Experience as VP of Quality and Safety/Risk Management in Joint Commission and/or CARF accredited facilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clinical Quality Excellence Work with senior leaders on strategic initiatives related to quality assessment, improvement, and risk management Develop strategic plans regarding quality improvements and risk management Ensure Quality and Risk policies comply with state, federal, and local regulations and align with client needs and industry best practice Develop, monitor, and analyze clinical quality metrics and implement plans to address needs in quality improvement, including reporting through AER, RCA for internal/external reviews, and customer feedback Participate in policy revision and implementation for strategic quality and risk management Engage in professional and trade organizations to promote quality and risk management in mental health services Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs with cross-department collaboration and staff education Oversee health information programs with coordination across departments on utilization and monitoring of records, HIPAA, and privacy compliance Develop departmental goals, standards, policies, and procedures; ensure legal, organizational, and medical staff alignment Support accreditation efforts with CARF and JCAHO, aiming for ongoing accreditation across the organization Participate in committees related to safety, quality, and risk policies Employee Engagement Demonstrate Telecare's mission, values, and beliefs in daily interactions Collaborate with clinical and nursing leaders to retain and develop the workforce Own professional growth and support staff development Customer Satisfaction Use management practices that empower staff, set clear expectations, provide feedback, and pursue continuous quality improvement Maintain professional relationships and effective communication within and across departments Financial Security Collaborate on department budgeting with senior leaders Oversee risk management and professional liability, including coordination with legal counsel and insurers Manage litigation and insurance claims, loss run reports, and safety events Support patient safety programs and workers’ compensation reduction Work with Development to review new and existing contracts and program deliverables Travel 25-35% annually Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, Training, and Finance to develop workforce strategies for the region of care Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at management discretion.
