Join us at TwelveLabs to work on state‑of‑the‑art AI video models that understand video like humans. The role is hybrid, based out of our San Francisco headquarters, but invites remote work for California or Washington residents.
Base Pay Range $145,000.00 / yr – $182,000.00 / yr
About the Role As a Frontend Software Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you’ll build and refine user interfaces that interface with our AI video models. You’ll use React, Next.js, and TypeScript to create responsive, high‑performing frontends, while collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver a seamless user experience.
We are looking for engineers with startup experience, who thrive in fast‑paced environments and can adapt quickly. A familiarity with the full stack is a bonus, but not required.
Responsibilities
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of responsive and high‑performance frontend systems using modern frameworks such as React and Next.js.
Collaborate closely with software engineers, PMs, designers, and researchers to implement user‑centric design solutions that complement our evolving video understanding models.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and optimization techniques, delivering high‑quality, performant, and adaptable frontend systems in the dynamic landscape of AI innovation.
Collaborate closely with AI engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to seamlessly integrate frontend components and maintain an intuitive user experience for our AI models.
Qualifications
Startup Experience: Five+ years thriving in a fast‑paced startup environment, showcasing adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach to frontend engineering challenges.
Technical Expertise: Minimum of 7 years in frontend development, proficient in React, Next.js, react‑query, and TypeScript.
Agile Mindset: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills that allow swift adaptation to changing priorities and innovation within AI technology.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and collaborating effectively within a cross‑disciplinary team.
Desired Experience
Comfortable using CSS Frameworks like Tailwind and component libraries such as Material UI to build responsive websites.
Familiarity with design tools like Figma and working with an in‑house design team.
Unit testing experience with jest and react‑testing‑library.
Familiarity with REST and API design.
Prior work experience in enterprise‑level products.
Understanding of SDLC and frontend infrastructure such as CI/CD, build tooling, caching, and optimization.
