Join the Blue Origin team as a Structural Analyst III on the New Glenn program. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a reusable, human‑capable, heavy‑lift launch vehicle based in Seattle, WA.

As a Structural Analyst III, you will perform and coordinate structural analysis on the First Stage Fluid System of the New Glenn launch vehicle. This hands‑on position involves all aspects of structural analysis, including configuration development and trade studies, developing novel and efficient approaches to challenging analysis problems, crafting analysis reports to support drawing releases, supporting structural test development, performing post‑test analysis, dispositioning manufacturing defects, analyzing structural repairs, and more.
Responsibilities
Perform configuration development and trade studies for the First Stage Fluid System.
Develop and run structural, dynamic, and thermal FE analysis using ANSYS (preferred) and other simulation tools.
Craft analysis reports to support drawing releases.
Support structural test development, perform post‑test analysis, and disposition manufacturing defects.
Analyze structural repairs and other post‑manufacturing issues.
Apply novel and efficient approaches to challenging analysis problems.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years experience in structural and dynamic analysis of pressurized components and systems (valves, tubing/piping, pressure vessels).
Proficiency with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred) and 3D CAD (Creo/SolidWorks/NX).
Knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection, and component testing.
Ability to use structural hand‑calculations for rapid decisions.
Passion for Blue Origin’s mission to make space accessible.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with machining, additive manufacturing, welding, or casting and their impact on structural integrity.
Familiarity with high‑strength alloys, nickel‑based superalloys, titanium alloys, and corrosion‑resistant steels in fluid systems.
Experience with cryogenic/elevated temperature systems analysis.
Knowledge of fatigue analysis and linear‑elastic fracture mechanics (hand calculations, NASGRO, etc.).
Understanding of metallic and composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs).
Process automation experience (VBA, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN).
Proficiency with Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS‑Dyna, OptiStruct.
Compensation WA applicants: $117,498.00 – $164,497.20.
