Data Analyst – Washington, DC Location:

Washington, DC (Hybrid opportunity with periodic travel)

Security Clearance:

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain, maintain, or transfer an active DoD Secret security clearance.

Job Overview:

Serco supports the U.S. Navy as a prime contractor for the Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Direct Reporting Program Manager (DRPM), which coordinates acquisition and sustainment of submarine and surface vessel technologies. The Data Team delivers insights and analytic solutions to support the Navy’s supply‑chain risk management (SCRM) efforts. As a Data Scientist with 1–3 years of experience, you will partner with product owners, data engineers, and stakeholders to develop data‑driven tools and visualizations that support decision‑making and risk assessment across the MIB program.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement data science solutions to analyze large and complex datasets related to supply chain networks.

Apply statistical methods, machine learning and predictive modeling to identify patterns, anomalies and potential risks.

Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code in Python using libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow.

Query, manipulate and analyze structured and unstructured data from databases (SQL, NoSQL, Hive, etc.).

Support data ingestion, processing and visualization workflows to deliver actionable insights.

Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of analysts, data engineers, front‑end developers and subject‑matter experts.

Present findings through reports, dashboards and briefings to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Report progress and metrics to the Data Director and other senior stakeholders.

Provide program, analytical and acquisition support to senior MIB executives as required.

Assist in drafting information papers for Congressional inquiries; support reporting to Congress on MIB spend goals.

Travel as required to carry out the duties above.

Qualifications:

Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or related field plus five years of hands‑on experience in data science, analytics or applied machine learning.

Master’s degree and three years of hands‑on experience in data science, analytics or applied machine learning.

Strong proficiency in Python and core data science libraries.

Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) for querying and analysis.

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate technical insights clearly.

Background or coursework in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Risk Analysis preferred.

Experience with big‑data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.) preferred.

Familiarity with government contracting or defense‑related projects preferred.

Experience developing in Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW) preferred.

Strong communication, facilitation and conflict‑resolution skills.

Industrial Base, Supply Chain or Workforce knowledge preferred.

Experience or knowledge of the maritime industrial base an added plus.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills; interacts with industry and senior leadership.

Customer‑oriented team player, self‑motivated, driven, can work independently and remotely.

Ability to travel 10% or more.

Salary:

$97,787.27 – $162,978.79 (subject to experience, skills and role responsibilities).
