role at

Waabi .

Company Overview Waabi, founded by AI pioneer Raquel Urtasun, is an AI company building the next generation of self-driving technology. With world-class teams and an innovative approach that unleashes AI to "drive" safely in the real world, Waabi is moving self-driving closer to commercialization. Offices are in Toronto, San Francisco, Dallas and Pittsburgh.

Role Overview We develop a highly autonomous vehicle that integrates sensors, compute and actuators into a base vehicle. This platform underpins the Waabi Driver that uses novel generative AI algorithms to rapidly develop and scale an autonomous trucking solution. Ensuring the platform is safe for supervised and driverless autonomy requires systems engineering practices such as tracing product requirements to system requirements to tests and eventually test executions.

A strong focus will be on:

Creating verification plans based on requirements.

Developing and documenting tests.

Executing tests with support from other test engineers.

Developing fault injection tools and techniques.

You will...

Own the creation, documentation, alignment and verification of autonomous platform requirements and define efficient ways to describe and evaluate them.

Serve as a central point of contact for platform-related verification methods and tests, communicating updates and roadblocks to stakeholders.

Define improvements for the simulator to verify autonomous platform aspects under all conditions, working with teams on HIL/SIL methods.

Own the writing and tracking of tests and executions in line with company milestones.

Implement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate Waabi platform verification processes where applicable.

Work with external partners to deliver a safe autonomous platform validated to support a strong safety case for the complete self-driving system.

Expectations

In-vehicle testing, conducted with a vehicle operator.

Travel to Arizona for physical vehicle testing is expected for approximately 25% of the time.

Qualifications

3+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experience.

Experience with requirements specifications, metrics and functional safety (ISO 26262).

Knowledge of the autonomous vehicle stack, systems engineering and verification/validation.

Experience executing complex vehicle test campaigns.

Strong fundamentals in math, engineering, physics and vehicle dynamics.

Excellent data analysis skills with Python or MATLAB.

Passionate about self-driving technologies and innovative solutions.

Experience with vehicle actuation (brakes, steering, propulsion) and sensors, compute and actuators.

Bonus/Nice to have

Understanding of truck operation.

Experience launching a driverless product.

Experience in the automotive self-driving industry.

Experience building software systems from scratch.

Experience in robotics or machine learning.

Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
