Software Engineer, Cloud Engineering
role at
DoorDash .
Help us build the world's most reliable, on‑demand logistics engine for last‑mile delivery! We're bringing on experienced engineers to help us create and maintain a 24x7, no‑downtime, global infrastructure system that powers DoorDash's three‑sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers.
About the Role As a member of the Cloud Infrastructure Team within Core Infrastructure, you’ll design, build, and operate the foundational cloud systems that underpin all of DoorDash engineering. Your work will ensure that our cloud environments are secure, scalable, cost‑efficient, and easy to use for product and platform teams alike. You’ll partner closely with Compute, Traffic, and Platform teams to evolve our multi‑cloud strategy, modernize governance and automation, and enable teams to deliver faster with confidence.
Responsibilities
Build and evolve DoorDash’s foundational cloud infrastructure in AWS (and emerging in GCP), including accounts, VPCs, networking, IPAM, and identity governance.
Design and implement cloud networking at scale using Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and cross‑account peering.
Automate infrastructure management through Terraform, Atlantis, and other Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
Develop proactive monitoring and alerting for cloud health, network reachability, and service limits to improve reliability and visibility.
Partner with platform teams to provide reusable cloud primitives (e.g., AWS building blocks) for self‑serve infrastructure.
Contribute to cloud governance and FinOps initiatives, helping enforce guardrails and optimize resource usage across accounts and services.
Support multi‑cloud expansion, developing the next generation of tooling and automation to spin up new environments in GCP or other providers.
Qualifications
You have 2–5 years of experience building or operating cloud infrastructure at scale (AWS, GCP, or similar).
You are proficient with Terraform, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and automation pipelines (e.g., Atlantis, GitHub Actions).
You have strong technical knowledge of VPC networking, subnets, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and cross‑account access patterns.
You have experience implementing monitoring and alerting for cloud systems using tools like Prometheus, CloudWatch, or Datadog.
You write clean, maintainable code in Go, Python, or another modern language.
You value solving problems at the platform level, building abstractions that make life easier for hundreds of engineers.
Bonus Points
Have experience with multi‑cloud environments or cloud portability initiatives.
Have contributed to cost optimization, or governance automation.
Have experience building self‑serve infrastructure platforms used by other teams.
Understand or have contributed to network security and policy enforcement (e.g., SCPs, IAM boundaries).
Enjoy working across multiple domains such as networking, infrastructure, automation, and developer experience.
Compensation The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future. $130,600—$192,000 USD
Benefits DoorDash cares about you and your overall well‑being. That’s why we offer a comprehensive benefits package to all regular employees, which includes a 401(k) plan with employer matching, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, wellness benefits, commuter benefits match, paid time off and paid sick leave in compliance with applicable laws (e.g. Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act). DoorDash also offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, disability and basic life insurance, family‑forming assistance, and a mental health program, among others.
