The
Mind & Memory Director
is responsible for leading the Memory Care environment, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and oversight of resident care staff. The program’s goal is to provide an environment that supports each resident’s highest level of physical, social, and psychological well‑being.
Schedule:
Sunday through Thursday
Job Responsibilities
Provide supervision, coaching, recognition, engagement, and performance evaluations for all Harbor Resident Care Associates.
Maintain an engaging, homelike environment that offers residents opportunities to touch, collect, or enjoy meaningful items.
Support and monitor the day‑to‑day delivery of quality resident services to achieve high resident, family, and associate satisfaction.
Schedule all staff for 24/7 delivery of services within the Memory Care Program while monitoring labor hours and budget.
Additional Responsibilities
Support residents’ families, friends, and significant others as ongoing caregivers within the care‑giving team.
Communicate frequently with family members.
Manage the department’s budget.
Attend and actively participate in local Alzheimer’s Association chapters or local partnerships.
Conduct tours of Harbor for prospective residents and families.
Requirements
BA/BS degree in a health science related field or equivalent experience.
Advanced knowledge of the dementia disease process, associated functional changes, and disease progression.
Minimum of 3 years memory care experience.
Completion of Benchmark University Faculty Training within the first year of hire.
Completion of a Dementia Care certification (CDP, Alzheimer’s Association Habilitation Training, or equivalent) within the first six months.
Strong supervisory, mentoring, and coaching skills with ability to inspire and develop others.
Self‑directed, flexible, and able to work in a collaborative environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to relate positively to a diverse resident and associate population.
