Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a
Principal Systems Engineer
providing support to the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management Division (C3BM). C3BM is tasked with delivering an integrated Department of the Air Force Battle Network to provide resilient decision advantage and enable the USAF, USSF, Joint and Coalition forces to win against the pacing challenge. C3BM focuses on Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE), Operational Response Team (ORT), and multiple mission integration teams across Air, Maritime, and Space acquisitions, including ABMS. The candidate will provide Systems Engineering assistance applying broad theoretical and practical knowledge to the acquisition process, and will support the design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components across the acquisition life cycle (requirements analysis through system disposal). This is a full-time position that can be worked out of Hanscom AFB, MA or Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Responsibilities
Candidate selected will be aligned to one of five Mission Integration Teams (MITs): Air, Maritime, Land, Homeland Air Defense, and Cross Cutting. Members of the MITs manage the DAF C3BM MIT Process for their respective MIT, receiving operational and functional requirements from the Operational Community and conducting a: (1) Operational Analysis to translate requirements into technical requirements; (2) Architecture Definition to design the capability’s architecture with integration/interoperability to the broader C3BM enterprise; (3) Risk assessment and mitigation coordination with the Science & Technology Community; (4) Execution management strategy to provide requirements to the Acquisition Community; (5) Test and Evaluation Strategy with the Acquisition Community for exercises and experimentation before delivery to the Operational Community. Serve as a Mission Integration Team (MIT) system-of-systems architecture design and development engineer. Review current DoD architecture models and design a migration path to a future state enabling seamless sensor-to-shooter connectivity. Drive interconnectivity between represented Program Executive Officers (PEOs) and weapon systems. Capture as‑is and to‑be states driven by MITs, stressing engagement scenarios. Engage the joint and coalition community to design and evaluate an architecture that connects any sensor to any shooter, irrespective of service or coalition. Identify, assess, and mature innovative and affordable concepts meeting current and future Air Force needs through multi‑domain expertise, analytics, and modeling/simulation/analysis tool development. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Years of experience:
20+ years of experience with 12+ years of DoD related experience Familiar with cloud-based systems, including management and projection of cost and performance Familiar with agile methods and CI/CD, DevSecOps and DevOps principles Comprehensive knowledge of principles, policies and practices of systems acquisition and program management, as defined in DoDI 5000.02 and 5000.75, and knowledge of roles within the DoD and the Air Force Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for gathering, analyzing, and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of acquisition programs Ability to communicate orally and in writing, providing quality acquisition and program documentation including briefings, documents, and plans Additional Information: Location:
