Science is a clinical stage, vertically integrated technology company focused on solving neuroscience’s hardest questions and the most serious unmet medical needs. We work to restore the quality of life for patients with debilitating conditions that currently have no treatment options, creating devices aimed at restoring vision, cognition, and mobility. To support progress across our industry, we provide state‑of‑the‑art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on through Science Foundry.

Science is developing SciFi, a ruggedized neural‑recording headstage, and its accompanying SDK, synapse. This platform will enable neuroscientists, researchers, and medical‑device developers to write high‑performance code that runs directly on the device. We are looking for an experienced systems‑software engineer to join us onsite in Alameda, CA to help build out both the SciFi hardware platform and its software ecosystem. This role represents a new approach to neural recording and processing, moving from bulky, centralized setups toward distributed, edge‑based computation. You will build the foundation that allows users to implement real‑time neural signal processing, decoding inference, and low‑latency streaming directly on SciFi. We look for technical and product judgment—can you ask the right questions to understand how neuroscientists think about their experiments and then build performant systems and APIs that fit their workflows?
