Box United is a Chicago-based nonprofit on a mission to make it as normal for girls to grow up boxing as it is to grow up playing basketball. Through our research-backed Fight Like a Girl program, we’ve helped over 700 girls build strength, confidence, and resilience. Now, we’re scaling our program from 20 to 50 schools—and laying the foundation to become the next Girl Scouts, bringing non-contact boxing and mental wellness to girls across the U.S. The Role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as Box United’s key operator and builder—responsible for scaling systems, people, and programs with excellence. This leader will turn vision into execution, manage a small but high-performing team, and ensure the organization runs with precision and innovation. Responsibilities
Program Scaling & Systems Building
Lead the operational expansion of Fight Like a Girl from 20 to 50 schools in Chicago Build scalable systems for curriculum delivery, quality control, and partner onboarding Integrate AI tools to improve program tracking, monitoring, and internal efficiency
Team & Operations Leadership
Supervise team KPIs on a weekly and quarterly basis Oversee HR, compliance, contracts, and organizational infrastructure Manage annual planning, budgeting, and financial reporting in collaboration with the Executive Director
Strategic Execution
Translate the Founder’s vision into clear operational roadmaps and measurable goals Implement a comprehensive SOP systems for all organizational operations
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in nonprofit management, operations, or business leadership Proven record scaling a program or organization (required) Strong project management and systems-building skills, including AI fluency (e.g., workflow automation, data tracking, CRM integration) Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and compliance Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a builder’s mindset Ideal Candidate
