PTHB is looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our pan Powys community dental service on a part-time basis (22.5 hours, 3 days per week). The post is for a senior community dentist with experience treating both special care and paediatric patients. The successful candidate should ideally be competent using inhalation sedation or willing to undergo further training to gain competency. PTHB community dental service provides a wide range of dental services including traditional community dental services, routine general dental services, specialist services such as paediatric, endodontic and oral surgery. In addition, we carry out mobile dental services using the mobile dental unit, domiciliary dentistry and are responsible for delivering the designed to smile programme and Gwen am Byth.
All clinics have access to a cloud based modern IT system including access to digital OPT and CBT. Clinicians have freedom to use a variety of materials and equipment is modern and well maintained. Although we have no district hospital in Powys, we pride ourselves on doing everything that is safe to do so in a primary and community care environment

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for helping plan dental services for special care patients, including patients who suffer from anxiety and dental phobias. The role will require the individual to look after an established list of special care patients and accept referrals for new special care patients within the service. There will be a requirement to provide domiciliary services as well as providing urgent access when capacity allows. In addition to treating special care patients, you will be an expected to accept referrals for children. We are always looking for innovative solutions to deliver services and are integrated into the health boards wider healthcare teams.
