Salary/Pay Rate: $24.73 / hour - $51,438.40 annually Posted Date: 12/02/2024 8:36 AM Department Adams County Juvenile Detention Center 200 North 52nd Street, Quincy, IL 62305 FLSA Classification Non-Exempt (hourly); Full Time Salary and Benefits $24.73 hourly wage/ $51,438.40 annually (.20 cents shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts) • Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance and wellness program • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), Employee contributes 4.5% of earnings. The County contributes 6.77%. • $200.00 fitness reimbursement per year • Vision and dental insurance • Credit union Expected Hours of Work 1st shift – Sun. through Thurs. (7 am to 3 pm) 2nd Shift – Tues. through Sat. (3 pm to 11 pm) Swing Shift – Thurs. through Mon. (hours include a mixture of both 1st and 2nd shift) Hours of work during the initial training/on-boarding process will vary. Candidate may be assigned to other shifts temporarily during that time. Requirements 1. Must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (or at least 60 hours of earned college credit w/ the intent of earning the degree within a 3-year period). 2. Must be a United States citizen and possess a valid driver’s license. 3. Must be a resident of Illinois within 90 days of hire. 4. Must be a minimum of 21 years old. 5. Must submit a drug test and comprehensive background check prior to employment. Reports to Shift Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent Job Description Summary Detention Officers provide daily supervision and facilitate behavioral programming for youths aged 17 and younger in a secure detention facility. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Provide security, care, and direct supervision of residents. 2. Facilitate and deliver cognitive behavioral programming designed to assist residents toward positive behavior modification. 3. Transportation of residents to and from various appointments and placement facilities. 4. Work with outside organizations such as law enforcement agencies, lawyers, transport personnel, county, state and federal personnel and agencies, and community members in a positive and professional manner. Competencies Operate a variety of equipment, including computers, printers, physical restraint devices, radios, intercom systems, telephones. Work Environment/Physical Demands This role requires work performed in and around a juvenile detention facility; subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, physically restraining detainees, and lifting of objects up to or exceeding 100 pounds; exposure to combative youths may be involved. Travel Overnight travel may be necessary to attend occasional training workshops.
