Department Overview - Colon & Rectal Surgical Oncology: The Colon & Rectal Surgical Oncology department at MD Anderson is a high-volume, fast-paced clinical setting with a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration. KEY FUNCTIONS Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for new, consult, and follow-up patients Collaborate with supervising physicians and fellows to develop and implement care plans Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and lab work Document clinical encounters clearly via dictation or manual entry Perform minor outpatient procedures (e.g., wound care, drain removal, suture removal) Manage pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients Provide thorough patient and family education Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams across the institution Participate in education, research, and administrative initiatives as needed Other duties as assigned Additional Information: This role is best suited for an APP who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with surgical oncology faculty in a high-impact, patient-centered practice. Qualifications: Education REQUIRED: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Licensure/Certification REQUIRED: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
