Base pay range: $257,000.00/yr – $300,000.00/yr
Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship (non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy)
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine
Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; residency may be ACGME‑ or AOA‑accredited or a non‑U.S. residency followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice, as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee
For current residents in accredited programs: eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis; PRPs must maintain full licensure and are not considered independent practitioners
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred: Fellowship in geriatrics and/or board certification in geriatrics
Physical requirements: see VA Directive and Handbook 5019 – Employee Occupational Health Service
Duties
Provide comprehensive primary care and geriatric care to veteran patients, addressing general medical needs and complex geriatric syndromes
Conduct geriatric consultations and deliver longitudinal primary care to a diverse veteran population with complex clinical needs
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (clinical pharmacist, social worker, clinical psychologist, nurse care manager, etc.) to manage chronic conditions, mental illness, pain, and psychosocial issues
Supervise and teach medical residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, and other trainees in geriatric medicine and primary care settings
Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain confidentiality of patient, family, and staff information
Perform other duties as assigned by the department and the VA health system
