Role Description We are seeking an experienced
Project Architect
based in the
Chicago area
to lead project design, coordination, and delivery as a
Full‑Time 1099 Contractor . The ideal candidate is both a designer and a project manager — someone who takes ownership, makes confident decisions, and drives progress without constant oversight. You’ll play a key role in executing architecture and interior renovation projects, managing everything from concept to construction, while collaborating with engineers, contractors, and client stakeholders. This is a hands‑on, leadership‑driven role where autonomy and accountability are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the full project lifecycle — from conceptual design through construction administration.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Architecture, MEP, Structural, Interiors, BIM) to ensure cohesive execution.
Prepare and review drawings, renderings, and specifications using
Revit
and
AutoCAD .
Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables with confidence and minimal supervision.
Conduct site visits, oversee RFIs/submittals, and ensure field coordination accuracy.
Apply
LEED/Fitwel
standards and sustainable design practices when applicable.
Represent SDG in client meetings, providing proactive communication and design leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
5–9 years
of professional experience in architecture and project management.
Proficiency in
Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong leadership and problem‑solving skills; able to make independent decisions.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Familiarity with
BIM
workflows and coordination across disciplines.
Experience with
LEED
standards or sustainable design is a plus.
Architectural license
or active pursuit preferred.
Must be
based in or around Chicago, IL
and available for on‑site work.
Contract Details
Full‑time
