Overview
Purdue University’s College of Engineering seeks an accomplished and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Data Analytics and Information. This key position supports the Dean, Cabinet, and Engineering Leadership Team in leveraging data to guide decisions, measure impact, and shape the future of one of the world’s leading engineering colleges. The Director will oversee a collaborative and high-performing team that drives data-informed strategies across areas such as student success, faculty and graduate development, research performance, entrepreneurship, tech transfer, and college reputation management. Working closely with the Dean’s Office, this role ensures that complex and dynamic institutional priorities are supported with sound analytics, meaningful insights, and actionable intelligence.
What You’ll Do
Partner with the Dean and Executive Cabinet to identify priorities, analyze institutional data, and develop proposals and strategies that inform decision-making at the highest levels
Direct and mentor the Data Analytics and Information team, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement
Oversee the design, development, and dissemination of dashboards, reports, and predictive models that support college-wide initiatives
Lead and coordinate large-scale Dean’s Office projects focused on operational excellence, strategic planning, and organizational improvement
Ensure data integrity, governance, and effective communication of insights to leadership stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Advanced degree in data analytics, information systems, business intelligence, or a related field
At least seven years of progressive experience in data strategy, institutional research, or analytics leadership
Proven record of leading data teams and translating complex information into actionable insights for executive leadership
Strong knowledge of data governance, predictive modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL)
Excellent interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional collaboration and convey analytical findings to diverse audiences

What We're Looking For – Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in informatics, computer science, or other data-related field
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in an information, business computing, or business intelligence field with increasing responsibility; experience designing and building reports and dashboards for non-technical audiences and implementing operational improvements
Preferred
Master’s degree
Three (3) or more years of management experience of technical staff; experience with Purdue’s enterprise reporting and dashboard tools
Experience in higher education bridging traditional analytics with market research
Skills Needed
Program and project management and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
Knowledge of Purdue University’s student and HR reporting systems is desirable
Ability to think analytically and to effectively communicate with and influence senior levels in the organization
Ability to lead large projects on short timelines with participation from all levels of the organization
