Start Date:

About Contemporary Care
Contemporary Care is a leading mental health organization dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality psychiatric and therapeutic care. We combine traditional treatments with cutting‑edge approaches like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato to deliver life‑changing results for our patients. With two established practices and two more in development, we’re rapidly expanding throughout Connecticut and beyond.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee operations across all locations and lead the next phase of our expansion. Reporting directly to our CEO and founder, Dr. Tarique Perera, the COO will play a pivotal role in streamlining processes, opening new practices, and driving sustainable profitability.
This is a high‑impact leadership role suited for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment and who can balance strategic vision with hands‑on execution.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all administrative and operational functions including Front Office, Billing & Collections, Marketing, HR, Legal, and Practice Expansion.
Lead process improvement and growth initiatives to streamline efficiency and enhance patient and staff experience.
Develop and execute strategies for opening 2–4 new practices within 12 months.
Partner closely with clinical leadership to ensure operational alignment with patient care goals.
Manage budgets and own P&L accountability for all locations.
Lead a six‑person management team of direct reports.
Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across departments.
Success Metrics
Increase net profits by
20–30%
within the first year.
Successfully open
2–4 new practices
and position the organization for scalable growth.
Establish consistent, efficient operational processes across all sites.
Ideal Candidate
Experience:
8–12+ years in healthcare operations, preferably in medical practice management, behavioral health, or multi‑site healthcare organizations.
Track Record:
Proven ability to expand, streamline, and profitably scale healthcare practices.
Leadership Style:
Collaborative, intelligent, and highly adaptive — able to gain trust from clinicians and lead by influence rather than authority.
Deep understanding of healthcare operations and compliance
Strong analytical and strategic thinking
Comfort with technology and new systems implementation
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Background:
Experience growing mental health or similar outpatient healthcare practices.
Base Salary:
$180,000–$250,000, commensurate with experience
Bonus/Profit Share:
Negotiable based on performance
Health insurance:
Aetna, eligibility after 3 months
401(k) with 3% company match after 1 year
Opportunity for professional growth and leadership development
Company Vision
Contemporary Care is on a 10‑year trajectory toward significant growth and potential acquisition, targeting an EBITDA multiple of 12–15x. This role offers the chance to help shape that future — working alongside a visionary CEO to build one of the most respected mental health organizations in the region.
Hiring Process
4–5 interview rounds with the CEO, interim COO, Finance Manager, Director of Operations, and senior clinicians (some group interviews).
Background and reference checks required.
Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Tayloright Placement by 2x.
