Principal Consultant, Specialist in Mission Critical & Industrial Construction Recruitment General Superintendent — Mission Critical (Data Centers)
The role Lead field execution for ground‑up and expansion mission‑critical projects (hyperscale/colocation data centers) from sitework through commissioning and turnover. You’ll be the senior field leader responsible for safety, quality, schedule, logistics, and trade partner performance across fast‑paced, MEP‑intensive builds.
What you’ll do
Own field operations: develop site logistics, work plans, look‑aheads, and sequencing; drive daily huddles, coordination, and constraint removal.
Champion a zero‑incident culture: implement and enforce project‑specific safety plans, JHAs, and corrective actions; audit subs and hold stand‑downs as needed.
Manage schedule with rigor: build and maintain pull plans/3‑week look‑aheads; run weekly trade coordination; forecast and recover critical path.
Oversee CSA + MEP scopes end‑to‑end: civil/structural, envelope, electrical distribution (MV/LV, UPS, generators, switchgear), mechanical (chillers/CRAH/CRAC), BMS/EPMS, fire/life safety.
Coordinate startup/commissioning: align FATs/SATs, MOPs/EOPs/LOTO, integrated systems testing, and owner witnessing to achieve on‑time MEC/ substantial completion.
Hold trade partners accountable: manpower loading, productivity tracking, QA/QC compliance, RFIs, NCRs, and re‑work prevention.
Interface with owners/AEs: lead site walks, resolve field issues, validate design for constructability, and communicate progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Maintain documentation: daily reports, as‑built verification, inspections, permit closeouts, and turnover packages.
What you’ll lead
Field Superintendents, Assistant Supers, Field Engineers, and site support staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and succession development.
Cross‑functional alignment with Project Management, Precon, Scheduling, VDC/BIM, and Commissioning teams.
What you’ll bring
12+ years
of commercial/industrial construction with
5+ years
leading
mission‑critical/data center
projects as the senior field leader.
Proven delivery of at least
two
large MEP‑heavy projects ($100M+ or 24MW+ preferred) from foundations through IST/turnover.
Expert in field planning and production control (pull planning/Last Planner, takt, constraint logs).
Deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, redundancy topologies (N/N+1/2N), and commissioning workflows.
Track record improving safety, quality, and schedule simultaneously on fast‑track builds.
Proficiency with
Procore (or similar), Bluebeam, BIM/VDC model reviews , and schedule workflows ( P6/MS Project ).
OSHA 30 , First Aid/CPR; valid driver’s license.
Strong communication and leadership presence with owners, AEs, and trade partners.
Nice to have
Mission‑critical experience in the Mountain West; tilt/steel/concrete shells with complex fit‑outs.
Start‑up/commissioning certifications (CxA, BCxP) or QA credentials.
Electrical or mechanical apprenticeship/degree background.
Primary project location in
Salt Lake City
with periodic regional travel for program support, factory witness testing, and executive reviews.
Extended hours/weekends as needed during critical path, energization, and commissioning milestones.
