The Perinatal Labor & Delivery RN provides family‑centered care across the high‑risk Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Birth Center, and Postpartum units at Jacobs Medical Center. Responsibilities include managing labor and delivery, triage, operating room (OR) and post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU) support, routine couplet care, and caring for late pre‑term newborns and high‑risk antepartum and postpartum patients.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive orientation and training in both the Postpartum and Labor & Delivery units.

Participate in scheduled rotations across both units after training.

Identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results for a wide variety of patient populations.

Direct and act as a resource to other nursing team members as assigned.

Promote compliance with policies and support evidence‑based practices.

Build trustful professional collegial relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

California RN license by start date; interim permits may be considered.

BLS/CPR certification at time of hire; obtain ART within six (6) months.

Current NRP certification (with AAP/AHA affiliation).

Certificate of course completion of basic fetal monitoring; obtain intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring certification from AWHONN within six (6) months.

Less than six (6) months of RN experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

BSN degree.

Prior clinical work experience in a specialty area.

Externship on a similar unit.

Prior UCSD experience.

Bilingual proficiency.

Special Conditions

Must be able to work various hours, days of the week, shifts, and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center’s business needs.

Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $130,124 – $130,124 (prorated if appointment percent
