Overview
The Sr. Director of Finance is responsible for leading and executing core financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, funding requirements, and applicable regulations. This position balances hands-on financial execution with oversight of a skilled team, ensuring the organization maintains strong fiscal discipline, accountability, and effective internal controls. Working closely with the CFO, the Sr. Director contributes to organizational strategy by creating and evaluating business models, supporting new initiatives, scenario planning, and identifying financial and operational risks and opportunities. The role ensures that department and project budgets are managed effectively, risks are monitored, and financial practices are aligned with both short and long-term organizational priorities.
Lead financial modeling, pricing strategies, and market analysis for new business opportunities
Own and manage the organizational budgeting process, working with VPs, Senior Leadership, and project managers
Oversee budgeting and planning software as system owner and ensure effective use across the organization
Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the Executive team, project managers, and external stakeholders as needed
Guide the development of dashboards and reporting tools for proactive financial monitoring
Supervise and mentor financial analyst team
Collaborate with the Controller and the Sr. Director of Contracts and Compliance to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with FARs, federal accounting standards and contract requirements
Serve as a strategic partner to the CFO, providing backup support to CFO or department peers as needed
Contribute to strategic planning and organizational decision-making
Education & Experience
Education: MA/MS 10+ years of experience
