Lecturer ­– Senior Lecturer (ILP Coordinator) – Port Macquarie UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie campus)

Employment type: Part‑time (14 hours a week)

Duration: Fixed‑term contract until 30 June 2026, with possibility of renewal

Remuneration: Competitive, based on Academic Level B or Level C, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Work rights: Visa sponsorship not available. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia.

Location: Port Macquarie, New South Wales

Role Overview UNSW’s Education Focused (EF) roles allow academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high‑quality teaching and enhancing the educational experience of our students. In the role of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, ILP Coordinator, you will develop and maintain the Independent Learning Project (ILP) programme at the campus, ensuring alignment with the university’s teaching objectives and providing undergraduates with supervised, hands‑on research experience.

Coordinate, support and guide students studying their ILP, including supervision, teaching, mentoring, reviews, thesis, presentations, coursework, and final reports.

Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and rural research projects, including design, governance, research skills development, and ethics application and approval.

Engage with local health and community networks, build partnerships, and identify and submit funding applications where appropriate.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Research Plan, rural research framework, workforce retention strategies, methodologies, and data analysis.

Support and mentor students and supervisors to design research studies, write and submit ethics applications, select appropriate statistical analyses, and prepare for publication of projects.

Provide high‑level coordination and administration within the programme, and expert advice to students and staff on course‑related matters.

Key Skills and Experience

Fellow of a Specialist Medical College or a post‑graduate degree in a relevant field, with experience in a medical or health environment.

Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, with a strong commitment to rural health and research projects.

Expertise in a relevant sub‑disciplinary area, including module convenership and a record of rural research including publications, ethics applications and grant submissions.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with local health partners.
